Day of the Girl Empowerment Expo

On October 11, 2022, 75 female students in 9th and 10th grade from Oak Grove High School’s Biotechnology Pathway Program, Andrew Hill High School’s Medical Magnet Program, and East Palo Alto attended the Day of the Girl Empowerment Expo. The event took place at Regional Medical Center of San Jose, and featured 20 industry partners from various professions within the medical industry. The keynote speaker was Jes Wolf, CEO of Rebel Girls, who shared stories of prominent successful women throughout human history. During the program, the students participated in the following activities: learned from panelists about mapping careers in healthcare; practiced life-saving skills to stop traumatic bleeding injuries and earned a certificate from Regional Medical Center; visited career booths hosted by industry partners, and networked to learn about different careers in the medical industry.
