Field Trip to Family Justice Courthouse, SCC Superior Court

On October 7, 2022, 63 students from Yerba Buena High School’s Law & Society Career Pathway program had the opportunity to observe a live trial in the courtroom of the Honorable Judge Vanessa Zecher. The students learned that they were observing a murder trial, and paid close attention to the trial process itself, including the focus on technology devices such as iPhones and iCloud. Students were able to learn about the discovery process and legal procedures used during the trial. When there was breaks during the trial, Judge Zecher would explain the legal jargons used and invited both the trial prosecutor and defense attorney to speak to the students.
